Construction work for LBNF, along with the PIP-II accelerator, is under way. Work is in progress at Fermilab in Illinois and at Sanford Lab in South Dakota to bring this project to life. Prototype detectors for DUNE are operating at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory. Laboratories and institutions around the world are undertaking research and development projects for DUNE and are preparing for building components for the giant DUNE detectors.
